The Carrier Cure

How to Use This Historic Native Canadian Process to Change Your Life

As many of you reading this know, sometimes a book just falls off the shelf in front of you when you need it.

That’s what happened to me with The Carrier Cure.

The Carrier Cure is named after Carrier Indians, indigenous to Canada. It follows a holy process that was handed down among their people for centuries.

I don’t remember how I came across the book and I don’t know what happened to it. I remember it was 8 ½ X 11, with a yellow cover. It was typed. For you younger readers, a typewriter is a machine that prints as you keyboard. It was only about 60 pages, much of which was a description of the author’s situation. He was an alcoholic and was in very bad shape when he came across a man who taught him the Carrier Cure.

On the first page of the book, the author—who remains anonymous—revealed that to his knowledge it was the first time this Cure had been written down. He left very clear instructions that whoever read his book had his permission to share it with as many people as possible.  That was the condition the Carriers had when they gave him permission to record  the Cure.

I began using the Carrier Cure in my own life about 35 years ago. Since then the miracles have never ceased.

If I need information, someone calls me with it; if I need money, the right opportunities show up; and if I want an adventure, invitations pour in.

I have personalized the Cure and I will share with you how I’ve adapted it to my life. You are welcome to change the basics to fit your life as well. You’ll soon see what I mean.

There is one great big caveat, however. You must have a close relationship with a loving God who only wants the best for you. If you were raised with a vengeful, angry God, this won’t work for you. However, if you would like to transmute that relationship, I’ve been helping people with that for many years as well.

Are you ready to begin this nearly-magical process to your own highest and best good?

Great! Let’s get to it.

1. Read all the steps below before you begin the process.

2. Make sure you won’t be disturbed for the next 20-30 minutes.

3. Get a small blanket and set it on a carpeted area in your home.

4. With the toe of your shoe, draw a line in the carpet parallel to the longest edge of your blanket.

5. Get a basket or bag and move through your home picking out items that represent everything in your life. In a moment, you are going to turn over everything in your life to the Great Spirit. There is no question in my mind that when Spirit is running my life, everything goes exquisitely. When I try to run the show, not so much!

6. Here are some suggestions:   

  • Pictures of family members and yourself
  • Anything representing the virus
  • money/checkbook
  • credit cards
  • food
  • any addictive substances
  • books
  • office supplies (to turn over all business matters)
  • school supplies (if you attend school)
  • bills
  • sports gear
  • your phone

You get the idea.

7. When you think you have enough representation of your life, write on a slip of paper, “And everything else in my life.” Place everything on your blanket.

8. Now sit quietly by all these facets of your life for a few moments. Think about them and thank them for contributing to your life.

9. Here is where the magic happens. You can’t pick and choose what you want to turn over. It must be your entire life for this to work.

10. When you are ready, pull the blanket over the line you made in the carpet, as you declare “I now turn over everything in my life to the care of the Great Spirit.”

11. After you’ve done that, go back to the line and rub it out with your foot or your hand. You can never go back. Then sit quietly for a few moments being thankful that your burdens have been so dramatically decreased.

After you put all of you items back, you may or may not feel different. Either response is fine. It is very important that you now begin to pay close attention to what is happening in your life. Miracles will begin happening right away—usually in ways you don’t expect. And usually far better.

To have these miracles continue, acknowledge them and say, “Thank you, Great Spirit.” It is the attitude of gratitude that makes the miracles become greater and more frequent.

For example, you may notice a penny on the ground. Pick it up and say, “Thank you, Great Spirit.” The next denomination will be larger.
Once you begin living this way, you can never settle for less again. It is so much fun!

However, being the fallible human creatures that we are, on occasion you may forget and start running the show by yourself again. That’s okay. We are allowed. Simply repeat the above process and go back to all the miracles you can hold.

Practicing Self-Care Can Improve Your Mental Health

It’s easy to get so caught up in life that we neglect to care for ourselves. We care for our jobs and our responsibilities, but we might skimp on our health and happiness. Here are some simple yet too often neglected self-care practices that you should prioritize for the benefit of your mental health.
Nutrition and Exercise
Taking care of your body means eating well and exercising. Studies show that eating healthy and exercising controls your weight, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, prevents diabetes and keeps you alive longer. Exercise also improves your mood and makes you stronger.
Contrary to popular belief, a healthy diet isn’t a diet at all. Instead, it’s the act of eating a nutritious variety of foods. We gain weight and get sick when we only give our bodies quick-fix foods, such as macaroni and cheese and microwave dinners. Your meal plan should include plenty of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins.
Physical activities that can boost your fitness level are walking, running, working out, and pretty much anything that gets you off the couch. More than just increasing your muscle mass, exercise can also help you wind down and sleep, which is important for reasons noted below.
Sleep and Relaxation
You’re probably not sleeping enough during the week, and that should change. Rest is imperative for brain function and physical health, but it also helps you get through the day. Some of us get cranky and moody when we don’t sleep enough. Others might not feel the short-term impact of sleep deprivation, but insufficient sleep can wear you down over time. Be the best self you can be by getting enough rest between the days. If you’re not sleeping well, it may be time to get a new mattress. A comfortable bed can make a huge difference in how well you sleep.
You can relax without sleeping by simply resting your body and mind, which is crucial for those suffering from mental health issues or recovering from addiction. Do something that calms you, whether it’s lying on a hammock, getting a massage, meditating, practicing yoga, soaking in a warm bath, listening to music, petting your dog, washing your hair, reading a book, or learning a new hobby.
Stress Reduction and Management
The opposite of relaxation is stress, and many of us tend to do that more often than not. It could be a high-stress job, the responsibilities of life and family, illness, financial woes, or even having anxiety over minor problems. When you start feeling overwhelmed or anxious, you can manage the stress by slowing down and focusing on taking deep breaths. Practice mindfulness and relaxation, get enough sleep and eat well.
Social Connections and Saying ‘No’
Loneliness can lead to depression, so spending time with others is a key tenet of self-care. Humans are social animals, and relationships are the cornerstone of our existence. Even the quietest, most introverted loner eventually craves time with others. Social connections have a positive benefit on our physical and mental health. Find your people and focus on making social connections with them instead of people who don’t make you feel good.
Self-care also means knowing when to say “no.” If you’re the type of person whose boundaries often get crossed or who has difficulty turning people down, practice a powerful “no” as a way to say “yes” to yourself. You might not want to do everything that is asked of you with work, family, or social situations. And that’s perfectly OK. Your time is valuable and should not be wasted.
You don’t have to always help others, do things they want you to do, or make self-sacrifices to keep everyone else happy. Your happiness matters, too. Since you train people how to treat you, your “no’s” will teach others to stop asking you for requests that make you uncomfortable.
Busybodies, people pleasers and those of you who aren’t motivated to take care of yourself: stop forgetting about you. As you embark on this journey to practicing self-care, you’ll find yourself getting happier and healthier. These boundaries that you’re learning to set will soon become a habit that you won’t want to break.

Pre-diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes: Can Hypnosis Really Help?

According for the Centers for Disease Control in the US, more than 29 million American adults have diabetes and another 86 million have pre-diabetes.

Approximately 34 percent of the adult population in the United States also meets the criteria for metabolic syndrome. Of the adult population, roughly 41 percent of people ages 40 to 59 have metabolic syndrome, and almost 52% of those 60 and older. You will find more information on metabolic syndrome later in this post.

The CDC projects that one in three adults could have diabetes by 2050. More than one quarter of seniors (ages 65 and older) have diabetes (25.9 percent, or 11 million seniors).

Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for around $245 billion in medical costs and lost productivity each year.

Type 2 diabetes used to be called “Adult Onset Diabetes.” It can no longer be called that as it’s becoming more and more common in children.

Research has shown that the absolute best way to reduce the chance of diabetes in your kids/grandkids is to improve your own health.

Toward that end, we at Living Lite have produced a 2-part set of audio downloads (MP3s) that may help.

The first is the Extinguishing MP3. Just listen to this hypnosis recording once, thinking of a sugar, carb or starchy food that you would like to have out of your life and you will be amazed at how quickly and easily that food just disappears! Metabolic syndrome is the name for a group of risk factors that raises your risk for heart disease and other health problems, such as diabetes and stroke.

Metabolic Risk Factors

The five conditions described below are metabolic risk factors. You can have any one of these risk factors by itself, but they tend to occur together. You must have at least three metabolic risk factors to be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.

1. A large waistline. This also is called abdominal obesity or “having an apple shape.” Excess fat in the stomach area is a greater risk factor for heart disease than excess fat in other parts of the body, such as on the hips.
2. A high triglyceride level (or you’re on medicine to treat high triglycerides). Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood.
3. A low HDL cholesterol level (or you’re on medicine to treat low HDL cholesterol). HDL sometimes is called “good” cholesterol. This is because it helps remove cholesterol from your arteries. A low HDL cholesterol level raises your risk for heart disease.
4. High blood pressure (or you’re on medicine to treat high blood pressure). Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage your heart and lead to plaque buildup.
5. High fasting blood sugar (or you’re on medicine to treat high blood sugar). Mildly high blood sugar may be an early sign of diabetes.

In the future, metabolic syndrome may overtake smoking as the leading risk factor for heart disease.

Are You Over 40 With A Few New Body Aches?

God Bless You, LBJ

I became eligible for Medicare in July, 2015 and enrolled shortly after. It turned out to be one of the best days of my life!

Prior to that time, I had been buying insurance on the “free market”–nothing free about it, if you ask me! I’ll give you my feelings about free market insurance after a little historical context.

I’d been self-employed most of my life. In college–during the Ice Age–at the University of Washington, in Seattle, WA, all students were covered and could use the Health Facilities for free. I went a few times for minor illnesses.

After college, I joined Group Health Cooperative in Seattle. It cost a little over $20 a month–back in the ’70s. For that we got all medical and drug expenses for FREE. Let me make sure you understand: There were NO co-pays or deductibles. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Well, over the years, that idyllic version of American health care disappeared. By the time I was in my 50’s, health insurance has soared to $500-$600 + a month (just for me) and the deductibles were insane. I wanted to get a colonoscopy in my 50s, as was recommended by my MD. I called my insurance company to find my co-pay and found it was $1,000! Needless to say, that colonoscopy didn’t happened until I was covered by Medicare.

When President Johnson signed the original bill into legislation, Medicare was free to all seniors. Now it costs a little over $100 per month per person. (Not complaining!). Back then all your medical and hospital costs were covered. Now you get about 80% coverage. But you can buy supplemental insurance, which I opted to do. For an additional $214 a month, ALL my medical bills are paid. There is no “in network” restriction. I can go anywhere I want and get it covered, within the medical community. Often alternative health providers are covered as well by limiting what they can charge (my chiropractor can only charge $32 per visit, for example).

Prescription medications are covered by yet another insurer. Again, it’s a reasonable amount–$25 a month–and well worth it.

I pay about $350 a month for no deductibles, 100% coverage and most prescription drugs are under $10 a month.

There is another obvious aspect to this: The above is for the highest risk population in the country–seniors. If this amazing coverage can happen for us, it begs the question, why can’t it for all Americans?

Certain politicians decry “Medicare for All” as putting the government between you and your doctor. That’s a lie. Right now, insurance companies are between you and your doctor. I have NEVER received a call from a government worker saying they wouldn’t pay for any procedure. It just doesn’t happen.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February, 2017, paying for the surgeries and treatments never crossed my mind. A close friend of mine experienced the same diagnosis with “Free Market” insurance and it took her over 4 years to pay off her medical expenses.

The next time you vote, ask your candidates about Medicare for All and if they agree that health care is a right and not a privilege, give them your vote! It’s really a vote for YOU.
